Phonics Screening Test
The Phonics Screening Test is administered to Year One pupils during summer 2.
Every Year 1 child across England will take their Phonics Screening Test during this week. The Phonics Screening Test requires the children to use the skills that they have learnt, to read a range of real and nonsense words. This will not be described as a ‘test’ to the children and will be administered within school as a 1:1 activity. You will then receive notification, in your child’s end of year school report, as to whether they passed the test or not. If they do not pass the test in Year 1, they are able to retake the test in Year 2 after further phonics support and interventions.
