Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium at Denby Free CE (Aided) Primary School

At Denby Free CE VA Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. We believe in the importance of providing a well-rounded, high-quality education within a caring Christian community.

Maximising the Impact of Pupil Premium
The pupil premium grant is a crucial source of funding that enables us to support our disadvantaged pupils and help them overcome any barriers to learning. We are dedicated to using this funding effectively, guided by the wealth of evidence-based research from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF).

Identifying and Supporting Eligible Pupils
The following groups are eligible for pupil premium funding at our school:

  • Pupils recorded as eligible for free school meals, or who have been eligible in the past 6 years, including those from families with no recourse to public funds
  • Children looked after by local authorities
  • Children previously looked after by a local authority or other state care

We encourage all eligible parents and guardians to check their child's eligibility, as this not only supports our school's funding but also provides valuable opportunities for your child. To check eligibility, please contact Derbyshire County Council or speak to our office who will be able to support you with this.

Our Pupil Premium Strategy
At Denby Free CE VA Primary School, we have high aspirations and ambitions for all our children. We are determined to ensure that every child receives the support and opportunities they need to reach their full potential.

Our pupil premium strategy is developed and reviewed annually, looking at priorities and developments as part of a three year plan, with a focus on three key areas:

  1. Developing High-Quality Teaching: Ensuring all pupils, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds, benefit from excellent teaching practises.
  2. Providing Targeted Academic Support: Implementing evidence-based interventions to address the specific needs of our disadvantaged pupils.
  3. Tackling Non-Academic Barriers to Success: Supporting the social, emotional, and wider needs of our disadvantaged pupils to enable them to thrive.

We monitor the progress and attainment of our disadvantaged pupils closely, using data to inform our decision-making and early identification of support needs. By working closely with parents, carers, and the wider community, we aim to eliminate barriers to learning and provide our pupils with the best possible opportunities to succeed.

Putting Our Values into Action

At the heart of our approach to pupil premium is our school's vision and values. We strive to inspire, nurture, and educate our children to shine within a happy, caring community. By targeting our pupil premium funding to address the individual needs of our disadvantaged pupils, we are living out our commitment to equity, inclusivity, and the holistic development of each child.

We welcome any questions or inquiries about our pupil premium funding and how it is being used to benefit your child. Please don't hesitate to speak with our headteacher or contact the school office for more information.
