School Councillors

Many Congratulations to our school councillors; Millie, Harley, Sophie, Ava, Lachlan and Hendrix on being selected to represent the school.
Children's Mental Health Competition
The school council are running a competition to design a poster which highlights the link between good physical health and mental health. The two are not separate and by looking after one you are helping to support the other. There are some ideas for the posters below. There will be a winner from each class and the overall winner will have their poster displayed around school and on our website. We ask for a £1 entry fee payable on Parentpay which will go towards refurbishing our Cosmic Room which is in need of some magic. This room will allow for a calm, sensory space for the children to access when needed. The closing date for entries is Thursday 16th February and if you can get the entries to Mrs Foulke or the school office, thank you.

Children's Choice Dinner Menu
We had a delicious start to the Children's Choice Menu today with chicken or vegetable kebabs and couscous with a yummy brownie for pudding. If you haven't already signed up for one of the days this week you still have time.
The School Council after discussions with the children came up with a week's lunch selections. Their choices went to catering at Derbyshire County Council and this special Denby Free menu was designed and will be available for week beginning 27th June 2022. If your child normally has sandwiches maybe we could tempt them for the week or even one of the days. If you can please just let the office know and we can arrange for them to have a lunch on their selected day/s. It would be great if we could get lots of children enjoying this special menu because if they enjoy it and we get lots of takers they will offer the same menu again. The menu is below and includes a joint of roast beef on the Wednesday which will be carved just like a Sunday lunch and freshly made fish goujons on Friday.
New Playground Equipment
Just look at the new equipment the School Council got to share with the children this week. We have new scooters, swingballs, new reading areas, Lego, Magnetix and car sets. This has all been thanks to all the money raised during our competitions and from kind donations from parents of no longer needed toys. The two new reading benches are thanks to the money raised from the recent sponsored reads. The children have all been loving the new equipment and seem to be enjoying playtimes even more. Many thanks to everyone.
