Starting school is a big step in your child’s life but an exciting one. Our priorities are that they settle well and are happy in school. Hopefully the information on this page, our New Starter Parent's Evening and the pre September visits will answer any questions you may have.

You will receive a pack containing information about what you can expect for you and your child starting at Denby Free Primary School when you attend the New Starter Meeting. However, here are some links and booklets to help you support your child through the transition to school and into their Reception year and to help you answer their questions.

Children no longer receive their pre-school eye screening check (details below) or their hearing test during their first year via the school nurse team. They recommend if you have any concerns about your child's hearing you speak to your doctor and the NHS website suggests you get your child's eyes checked at the opticians.
