Reading Books

The children are encouraged in KS1 to take more independence in changing their free choice book. The children will have opportunity to change their ‘sharing’ books whenever they need to, and our Friday parent reading mornings are a great opportunity for you to support your child in doing this. Please remember these books are for you to share with your child and are led by their interests not their phonic level.

Little Wandle phonics books are given out, by class teachers, every Wednesday and collected in on a Monday. These are read with three times in school within guided groups. Do not be concerned if your child seems confident reading their book when they bring it home. They will have already gained confidence from reading it in their guided groups and we want them to build their fluency and comprehension skills.
