Congratulations Lily you are the first Sparrow Class cup winner this school year! We feel so lucky to have Lily as a Year 1 in Sparrow Class and this week it has been her kindness and imagination that have shone through. She has been wonderful in helping to settle the new children into the class and our routines and she has kept us all entertained. The class loved her puppet show and my particular highlight this week was when she dressed as a dragon and acted out the story of 'How to train your dragon' and kindly gave roles to anyone who asked. Thank you Lily for being amazing you!

Well done Mason you are our first Ace Adder of the year! Mason is brilliant at working number challenges out in his head and he has been amazing this week keeping track of how many children we have and how many cups we need for milk. Thank you Mason!

Her reading, writing and number work are coming along brilliantly, she can now read and write sentences and work out some tricky number questions. Hannah is very creative and this week made a wonderful camera/treasure chest, she even added a flash. She carefully used her phonics sounds to segment and then spell ' just girls allowed' on the sides of it. To complete a wonderful week Hannah took a proper tumble in our Balanceability session, but she got up, dusted herself down, got back on and was soon gliding back down the playground. You are amazing Hannah and we're so lucky to have you in Sparrows.

Many congratulations Rafferty you are the Sparrow Class cup winner this week. Rafferty is one of those children that could easily win the cup every week for his wonderful caring and kind nature, his enthusiasm to all the learning activities and his wonderful thoughtful answers and questions. The reason Rafferty was chosen this week is because we have really noticed his confidence growing over the last couple of weeks (this has also been noticed at home). When Rafferty finds something tricky he perseveres and keeps trying and practising until he has got it. Rafferty's letter formation and use of phonics sounds to spell words has been a pleasure to witness this week and he will often offer his help to others. We love having you in Sparrow Class Rafferty!

Well done to Lily who is the Sparrow Class Ace Adder this week. Lily meets the challenge every week with a smile on her face and doesn't get flustered if at first she doesn't know the answer. Keep up the hard work Lily, maybe Dad could pass his accounts onto you next?

Well done Hannah, your hard work has been noticed and we wanted to tell everyone! Hannah is the Sparrow Class Ace Adder this week. She works methodically through the questions on the challenge sheets and will either work the answers out in her head or use the Numicon to help her solve them. Keep going Hannah and you will have that Ace Adder badge before you know it.

Deano has enjoyed a wonderful, fun filled weekend with Henry. They went to get Dad's car fixed at the garage and Henry got to show Deano some of his kickboxing skills at his lesson. Henry tried to show Deano the importance of following the instructions when making a Lego model but unfortunately Deano kept putting the wrong pieces on. A highlight of the weekend was Deano's trip to Belper River Gardens and park where he got to go on the swing with Charlie and Henry. Deano has loved his time spent with you Henry and hopes to visit again.

Many congratulations Mason for being the Sparrow Class cup winner this week. Mason is a quiet member of our class and he very cleverly spent the first few weeks in school weighing everyone up and deciding who would make a great friend. He is very caring, kind and thoughtful and enjoys learning outside and in and will try any activity available. Mason's progression has been fantastic in all areas of learning, his reading and sounding out is more and more confident, his writing is neat and often independent and his number work is amazing; coming up with great questions for the number of the day challenge. We are so very happy and proud to have you in Sparrow Class Mason!
