Good Morning Eagles! We hope you are all well. It was nice to see some snow last week wasn't it! Did you manage to get out and do some sledging? We'd love to see some photos if you did!
This week is Week 3 of the Spring Term. We will be moving onto multiplying and dividing fractions in Maths. Fractions is a REALLY long topic isn't it - SO much to learn. How are you liking our new novel - Who let the Gods Out? Most Year 6 classes we have read it with have absolutely LOVED it - we hope you will too!
In RE we will be turning our attention to Mosques in the context of our key enquiry question 'Is it better to express your religion in arts and architecture or in charity and generosity?' We are going to ask you to do some real deep thinking around this subject.
In science to we are moving onto looking at the harmful effects of Smoking. This is sometimes a difficult topic for children your age if someone you know smokes. We would encourage you to talk to your grown ups and show them what you are learning. If you have any worries or concerns, do ask questions and tell them what you are thinking - being open about our worries usually makes them much easier to deal with. In PE you will be practising skills to become a 'super striker'! Irregular metre is the focus for your music this week.
As always, we would like you to read your own book for at least 20 minutes a day and three times a week, make a few minutes of this time reading to an adult. And of course, your daily 10 minutes on Spelling Shed and TTRS! Phew - we don't know about you but we feel tired already!!! To help you get organised, we've created the timetable below.

The government has said we need to provide you with 4 hours home learning a day. As teachers however, we know that children learn at different rates and that every child's access to a computer and a grown up to help at home, will be different. All we ask is that you do your best and you are kind to your adults by being as organised and independent as you can be. Below is the daily planner that we talked about last week that you could copy/print out to plan your day. We are available to answer any problems you/your parents might have anyday - just email us on eagleshomelearning@denbyfree.org.uk and we will get back to you asap. Please bear with us as we are teaching in class during school hours so there might be a slight delay but we will do our best.

SEESAW
As you may have seen from Mrs Bell's letter, over the next few weeks, we will moving our home learning from this website onto the 'Seesaw' learning platform. We are really excited about this as we think it will make it much easier for us to set different types of activities for you and for you to be able to learn in different ways and share your work with us. You should have received your Seesaw login details now so pop over to the link in the email and join 'Eagles class 'on Seesaw. This week we will put Mon - Thu Maths starters on Seesaw to give you chance to investigate how it works and complete your activities on there. We will pop on some additional fun activities too but the rest of your home learning will remain on this website page. As soon as we know that everyone is using Seesaw confidently we will make the switchover to Seesaw completely. Exciting times Eagles!
So here we go Eagles...!
