Friday 22nd January

Maths
For your Maths starter we would like you to find your mega multiplier on the website (curriculum/maths/mega multipliers) and ask a grown up to time you while you complete it. Remember, it is 5 minutes for those of you on Championship Challenge and 1 minute for everyone else. Ask you grown up to drop us an email with your score and we will record it in class so you can be moving up at the same pace as the children who are in school at the moment. Good Luck!

In our main Maths lesson today, we are going to explore how to use the '4 rules' with fractions. (Remember to have a pen/paper/whiteboard handy tor the mini - tasks.) You can record your answers to the worksheet/challenge on paper and photograph it for us or on a word document that you can attach to an email. Please use the answer sheet to mark your own work and make any corrections. If you email your work to us on the same day it is set, we will be able to give you some specific feedback on any mistakes you made to make sure you understand the concepts now. If you email it later than that, we would still love to see it and we can give you some general/whole class feedback.
N.B. Task time in Maths usually takes about 30 minutes so if you have some time remaining after you have done the core work, have a go at the challenge!

Literacy

In today's lesson we will be writing the resolution and ending sections of our Greek myth. The resolution is the section of the story were the hero solves the major problem. Maybe the mythical creature is captured or killed?  In the ending paragraph you need to explain how something came to be or how it got its name, eg) the Aegean sea in Theseus and the Minotaur.
Before you begin writing reread the events section your wrote on yesterday. Can you use your purple pen to edit and improve your work in any way? Think about spellings, punctuation and paragraphs.

When you are writing the resolution and ending sections I would like you to think carefully about your spellings, use of paragraphs, speech layout, punctuation and handwriting. Just like yesterday please select four of the spelling words to include in your writing, ensuring you spell them correctly. Can you highlight these words so that I can easily see them when you send me your work.
Below is the full checklist of features, When you have completed your story please read through them to check that you have included everything. Great work Eagles. We will look at editing and improving our work next week. 😀

- Contain good characters facing evil or tasks set by evil characters
- Often have unhappy endings or suddenly kill off one of the main protagonists
- Have some sort of message or discussion point to consider, but not a moral
- Some tell the stories of creation and how the world begun; others are based partly on real events
- Tend to have mystical creatures that are unknown to the human world
- Contain heroes and heroines who overcome all obstacles in their way
- Have well-known objects or symbols repeatedly referred to: a box, a labyrinth, a set of wings and so on

- Contain Gods, Goddesses and supernatural forces beyond our world

Music

This is the fifth lesson in the unit.  Today, you will be exploring what is meant by 'irregular time' in music. As always, do send us a video of you doing the exercises...we would love to see how you are getting on!
