Welcome to the Eagles home learning page. We will post the weekly home learning link on this page every week until school opens fully. As Year 6s, we would like you to try and be as independent in your learning as you can and we are here to support you if you have and difficulties.
Parents: We really do appreciate (from our own experience!) how challenging home schooling is, especially if you are working from home yourselves. If your child has difficulty accessing home learning electronically, please let us know and we will do whatever we can to help. We have designed the activities in a way that a Year 6 child should be able to work through them independently with minimal support. We will check our emails on eagleshomelearning@denbyfree.org.uk regularly during the day - if they are stuck, encourage them to email us and we will get back to them as soon as we can. If you just need some extra support motivating your children to engage with the activities, again let us know and we can arrange a time to speak to them and offer encouragement. We really are all in this together and we all have your child's interests at heart so we will do whatever we can, whenever we can, to make the next few weeks as painless as possible for everyone!

Reading in Year 6 is very important. Being a fluent reader will really give the children an advantage as they prepare for their SATS in May. However, just as importantly, we aim to foster a real love of reading in all our children. The '100 books' list opposite is useful to gauge the level of text we would expect Y6 children to be reading. Of course, all children develop at different rates and we have a range of books in class to suit all reading abilities. Children should aim to read for at least 20 minutes a day and, whenever possible, should try to read to an adult (even just for 5 minutes) three times a week.
