It's hard to believe it is nearly half term already! It has been a busy time and we are all ready for the holidays. This week we have been doing lots of number work, thinking about multiples, factors, prime numbers, and squared and cubed numbers. On Thursday we had fun using multi-link cubes to represent cubed numbers visually. We had problems to solve which were tricky but we got there in the end! This week was also the first parent consultation evening of the year and while Miss Herrett and Mrs Melton were busy with our parents an old Eagle's pupil dropped in to say hello and bring us some books he didn't want anymore. Thank you Dylan, we love them. Come and see us again soon!

This week we have been enjoying even more reading than usual in Eagles! We are well into our class guided reading book 'Wonder' now and have been having long discussions about genetics which the children are fascinated by. The book features a character called August who has a severe cleft palate. The story follows the impact of his difficulties on his friends and family and tracks his journey as he starts school and has to deal with the reactions of others. We have been really impressed with the insight and empathy the children have shown towards the character. On Friday afternoon we visited Sparrows class where the Y6 children read stories to their Reception partners. This was part of our work to develop a mentoring role with the younger children. We're not sure who enjoyed reading the books in Reception more!! Mrs Melton and Miss Herrett Last week was the Year 6 trip to White Hall. We did a lot of activities every single day, such as canoeing, mountain biking and lots more. We all had an amazing time but we were all ready for coming home on Friday. We were so tired some of us fell asleep on the coach! |
