Back to Winter!

After last week's lovely sunshine, this week we have seen rain, hail, snow and thunder!
We have had a busy time again in Eagles. Y6 are feeling confident about their SATS which are now only a week away. They are working really hard.
On Friday, we always start the day with a poetry performance. Today's poem was led by Scarlet and her group gave a brilliant version of Alan Ahlberg's 'Slow readers club'.
Maisie bought in some of her amazing art work too.
This afternoon in Computing we have been modelling the internet! Everyone had a role in a computer network e.g. client, server, router and we learnt the protocol to show how information is exchanged between computers. It was good fun and by the end of the lesson we all had a better idea of how the internet works.

This week the sun put in an early appearance and we have enjoyed being able to get onto the field at break times.
In class it has been another busy week for us all. Year 6 are still practising for their SATS tests which are only two weeks away now. Today, they made revision posters for calculating fractions. Hopefully they will help them to remember the different methods we use.
Our new cricket coach (Jake) started and we did some work on 'forward drive' batting skills-we were all quite good!
On Friday it was Isabelle's turn to perform some poetry. She chose a group of friends to help and it was really good.
Happy weekend everyone!

Before we broke up we had our Easter celebration. We did a competition to make the best Easter bonnet. The winner in year 5 and 6 was Scarlet Driver. Congratulations ! We did loads of activities and group by group we made hot cross buns and rice crispy cakes with our younger partners. All of us swapped round classrooms and played different games. At the end of the day we shared all the treats we made at an Easter tea. We also went home with a little treat from the Friends of Denby! Thank you very much.
