Another fabulous day of celebrating differences at Denby Free.
Today it was Mr Chuck who sported a 'different' look. He seemed to be some sort of surfer dude, with very interesting hair...
It was also Sparrows who performed a lovely song and dance in collective worship today. It was all about friendship. The Sparrows danced and hopped about with a partner to show what fantastic friends they are to everyone!
The Denby Daily Dilemma got us all thinking about our senses today. Would you rather lose your sense of smell or sense of taste?
Most children chose to lose smell. Answers included:
'I would rather lose my sense of smell, because then I wouldn't have to smell poo!'
'I would rather lose my sense of smell because I love food too much to lose taste.'
'Eating would be boring if you couldn't taste anything.'
However, some children preferred to lose their sense of taste:
'I'd rather lose taste as smell helps us to know where we are.'
'You could eat lots of vegetables and be healthy if you couldn't taste them!'
'You wouldn't want to eat too much if you couldn't taste, so you wouldn't waste food and there would be more food for others.' Wow, deep thinking everyone!
All classes have been learning about a special need this week. Today, Owls learnt all about Down syndrome and all the positive things that people with Down syndrome can do. Swifts were learning about asthma and even crawled through a tunnel full of balls to try and imagine what it's like for the air that's trying to get out. Brilliant learning everyone!
Finally, the amazing Celebrating Differences team received their team badges today. They have done a brilliant job helping out this week and have delivered three fantastic collective worships. Well done team, you are true role models.
