So much learning has gone on this week at Denby Free; it has been incredible!
The day started in style, as the whole school were 'different' today. Everyone was challenged to wear something different of have something different about them. There were some obvious differences and some much more subtle ones, but everyone looked amazing.
The final Denby Daily Dilemma was: 'Would you rather never be able to lie or never be able to tell the truth?' Most of our children are an honest bunch and said that they would rather never be able to lie as they would not get into trouble, would make people happy and be a better person...how lovely of them!
The whole week was rounded off with a brilliant collective worship, showcasing all of the 'different' work that's been going on throughout school. It was so wonderful to see the colourful Elmas from Sparrows, the riddles, pictograms and much more from the Swifts, the riddles and sign language from the Doves, the paintings, video and poems from the Owls and the moving poems and powerful work on image manipulation from the Eagles. It was fantastically inspiring.
The girls from Eagles topped off the assembly with an incredible performance of 'True Colours.' It was a seriously moving version of the song and really embodied the message of the week. The girls were all phenomenal and truly brought a tear to my eye. I was so very proud of each and every one of them.
All that is left to say is a huge thank you to every member of staff and each pupil at Denby Free; you have been so wonderfully open, creative and have worked so hard this week. How fantastic it is that you are so beautifully different!
